認識指示代詞

指示代詞是甚麼？

表示「這個」、「那個」、「這些」、「那些」等指示概念的代詞叫做指示代詞。

指示代詞有哪些？

this（這個）、that（那個）、these（這些）、those（那些）、such（如此的）、same（同樣的）等詞都屬於指示代詞。

指示代詞this、that、these和those在句中可作主語、表語、賓語和定語，起名詞或形容詞的作用。

What do you think are those?
你認為這些是什麼東西？
（用作表語）

What did you think of that?
你覺得那個怎樣？
（用作賓語）

These are yours and those are mine.
這些是你的，那些是我的。
（用作主語)

This carpet is made of wool.
這張地毯是羊毛製成的。
（用作定語）

在指時間或空間上較近的事物或人時，用this或these，在表示時間或空間上較遠的事物或人時，用that或those。

This is a pineapple and that is a mango.
這是菠蘿，那是芒果。

These essays are quite good, but those are not so good.
這些短文寫得不錯，那些就寫得不怎麼好。

What were you doing at that time?
當時你在幹什麼？

They lived a hard life those days.
那時他們過著艱苦的日子。

this和these常指將要提到的事情，而that和those常指前面提到的事。

What I want to tell you is this.
我想告訴你的是這個。

The policewoman left with these words, “You must remember to shut your door when leaving.”
那位女警察離開時說到：「你們外出時一定要記住關門。」

He works day and night. That is how he makes a living.
他日夜操勞，以此糊口。

I haven’t got any money with me. That’s why I wish to borrow some from you.
我沒帶錢，所以想向你借點。

為了避免重複，可用that或those來代替前面提到的事物，但是this、these不可用於這種代替。

Our classroom is bigger than that of Class Two.
我們的教室比二班的教室大。
(that = classroom)

The video players from our factory are better than those produced by their factory.
我們廠生產的錄像機比他們廠生產的錄像機好。
（those = video players）

Her interests are different from those of her childhood.
她的興趣和童年時代不同了。
（those = interests）

it作主語指人時也可作指示代詞看待，在翻譯時可不譯出。

Oh, it’s you.
噢，是你啊。

Who is it? It’s Mary.
誰呀？是瑪麗。

such和same也是指示代詞，它們在句中可作定語、表語和主語。需要留意的是，same前面必領加定冠詞the。

We have never seen such a strange thing before.
我們從來都沒有見過這麼奇怪的事。
（作定語）

Such was the result of the examination.
這就是考試結果。
（作主語）

His illness was not such as to cause anxiety.
他的病還不至於使人焦慮不安。
（作表語）

Later I found out we were on the same bus.
後來我發現我們乘的是同一輛公共汽車。
（作定語）

The same has been done again and again.
同樣的事已經重複多遍了。
（作主語）

Our views are the same.
我們的看法相同。
（作表語）
